Xecuter 2.6 Install

  • The first thing to do is to take your Xbox apart.

Using a Torx 20 Screwdriver, unscrew the 6 screws and remove the top cover.

Using a Torx 10 Screwdriver, unscrew the 3 screws and remove the DVD ROM & Hard Drive units. Unplug the grey IDE cable and yellow power cable from the motherboard.

Now unplug the 2 plugs which go to the controller ports as well as the yellow cable for the front side power and eject buttons. Gently unplug the cable which goes to the power supply.

Take your Torx 10 screw driver and unscrew all of the screws that hold the motherboard to the case as shown below.

Now the screws and cables are removed, you can easily remove the board.

IMPORTANT: If you have a v1.6 board you will have to remove pin 6 as shown below and also follow the LPC rebuild diagrams here. To fit the pin header and LPC rebuild, hold the pin header in place with some insulation tape, turn the board over and position the LPC rebuild. Hold the LPC rebuild in place with some insulation tape and you are then ready to do the soldering.

This is how the pin header will look when it's soldered into place. (This is the v1.6 install - The v1.0 to v1.5 will have pin 6 still in place.)

The diagrams below are for the 3 wires coloured red, green and grey.

If you have the LPC rebuild then the grey wire goes to the solder tag on the rebuild PCB.

  • Now for the test. There is no need to connect your DVD Rom or Hard Disc to test if you install is correct.
  • IMPORTANT: You must have the switch plugged in and the chip enabled to do this test. Plug in the power to the Xbox and turn on. You should have a blue LED on the chip and the FlashBIOS Cromwell bios screen (if you have that particular bios installed which is what the mod is shipped with from brand new). if you see this screen that's it you've done it - well done. You should make sure the switch is working correctly. Disable the mod and the LED should turn red - now power cycle the Xbox - it should boot to the default Microsoft start-up (green flubber / X logo etc).

  • The last thing to do is to get the switch bank in the correct position. Once you've done this, put the DVD drive and hard drive back in place and screw it all back together.

  • That's it - All done.
